Carnatic music

Carnatic music is found in the South India. It is similar to the Hindustani music. It includes many logical classifications of ragas. It is like a western classical music. It is faster and shorter than Hindustani music. In this music, the opening piece is called as varnam. It includes ragams and thaalams. It has many primary themes such as descriptions of temples, worship, philosophy and nayaka- nayaki themes. Some of the instruments are includes in the Hindustani music such as sarod, sitar, tanpura, bansuri, sarangi, shehnai, surbahar, santoor, table and pakhavaj. Some of the instruments are associated with the Carnatic music such as gottuvadyam, venu, veena, harmonium, kanjira, mridnagam, violin, ghatam and many more. It is more popular in some places of India such as Karnataka, Kerala, Andra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. Carnatic music is performed by musicians. It was patronized by the local kinds of Mysore and Travancore in the 18th and 20th centuries.
