Music cognition

Music cognition is an interdisciplinary approach. It is a mental process and support musical behaviors such as comprehension, perception, memory, performance and attention. Cognitive theories include many fields such as psychoacoustics and sensation, music theory, neuroscience, computer science, music therapy, philosophy and linguistics. Music cognition is recognized by the Society of Music Perception and Cognition, the Journal Music Perception and Cognitive Sciences of Music. There are many fundamental issues found in cognition. Cognitive music theory explains about how sound produced and the study of human interpretations of sound is known as psychoacoustics. The interpret sounds and musical events are also known as music cognition. Embodied music cognition is made with the technology development. It includes pitch melody, harmony, rhythm and tonality. It includes mental and body systems such as feelings, emotions and coinaesthetic awareness. In general, cognition is the mental action. It is used to understand the experiences and the senses.
